Whitehauses celebrate 50th Anniversary
William and Ruth Whitehaus of 165 Crooked Hill Road, Hummelstown, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 29 with a surprise party, held by their children, at the East Hanover Township Building. The Whitehauses were married Aug. 29, 1959 in Zion Lutheran Church in Union Deposit. Full Story

Randall and Carol Wright of Hershey announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly, to Stephen Wyszomierski of Latrobe. He is the son of David and Mary Ellen Wyszomierski of Latrobe. The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Hershey High School and a 2008 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. She teaches music in West Hartford Public Schools in Connecticut. Full Story

When teaching about prayer Jesus left us "The Model Prayer", Matthew 6:9-13. Verse 10 reads thus: "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Hershey Keeps Cocoa Bean Thanks to Late Drayer TD
Hershey relied on good old-fashioned smash-mouth football to retain possession of the Cocoa Bean Trophy with a 28-21 season-opening football win Friday, Sept. 4, over Milton Hershey. While it was the 67th renewal of this cross-town rivalry that began in 1943, the game marked the first time both schools introduced new head coaches. Full Story

Never play soccer in Arizona! That is the best advice I can possibly give. We arrived in Arizona on Thursday for the ASU Sun Devil Classic. We all knew it would be hot judging by the weather when we walked out of the airport. We all thought we could handle it because it gets warm in Virginia, but in VA it's humid where in Arizona it's dry heat. Full Story
Earl W. Bruce Sr.
Earl W. Bruce Sr., 70, of Elliottsburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Hershey on Jan. 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Enoch D. Bruce Sr. and Mamie E. Keyton Bruce. Earl was a cook at the Hotel Hershey; and had helped to build the towers at Three Mile Island. He was a former member of the Fuzzy Few Organization. Full Story
Terrence G. Freisen
Terrence "Terry" George Freisen, 72, of Hershey, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. As a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey, he served as an Extraordinary Minister and as a member of Parish Council. Other memberships included St. Patrick's Church in Mount Dora, Florida, Hershey Country Club. Full Story
