Shooting in Downtown Hershey

 One person was injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon, March 5 in downtown Hershey.

According to Derry Township police, a 28-year-old man was shot, but his injuries are reportedly not life threatening. Derry Township police have also said it has "no reason to believe that this incident involves any sort of threat to public safety."

At 1:23PM on March 5, 2011, Derry Township Police responded to the report of a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of West Areba Avenue, Hershey. A 28 year old male sustained a single gunshot wound and was transported to Hershey Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The matter remains under investigation at this time. All subjects that were involved in the incident have been identified and Derry Township Police has no reason to believe that this incident involves any sort of threat to public safety. At this time, no further details are available.
