Andrew Lutzkanin Sr.

Andrew Lutzkanin Sr., 87, from Hummelstown, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. 

He was born in St. Clair on March 16, 1930, and was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Stefanosky) Lutzkanin. 

Andrew was an United States naval veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot where he was a supervisor and was a member of St. Ann’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Harrisburg. 

He was also a member of the Rutherford Amvets, Capital City Polka Club, and St. Lawrence Club. He was serving his second term as President of the Resident’s Council of the Middletown Home. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed attending all activities of his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by 18 siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen (Soucheck) Lutzkanin; four children, Andrew Lutzkanin Jr., and his wife Vicki, Paul Lutzkanin, and his wife Debora, Marie E. Mattis, and Carol A. Lutzkanin and her partner Carol Sojda; one sister, Theresa Rinaldo; nine grandchildren Andrew Lutzkanin III, Scott Lutzkanin, Kelly J. Grumbine, Luke T. Grumbine, Michael R. Mattis, Nicholas R. Mattis, Julie M. Cummins, Catherine A. Lutzkanin, and Michelle C. Lutzkanin; one great-grandchild, Cameryn E. Cummins; many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral Divine Liturgy was held Monday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 5408 Locust Ln. Harrisburg, PA 17109 with Father Michael Popson as celebrant. Viewing was from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Liturgy, Monday, in the chapel at the church. 

There was a luncheon immediately following the Funeral Liturgy in the fellowship hall of the church. 

Burial with full Military Honors was at 2:30 p.m. at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
